Apporto FAQ

The virtual computer lab Apporto has many tools available to students and faculty. University Information Services has developed this Frequent Asked Questions (FAQ) page to answer questions about these features.

Q: How do I download files from Apporto?

A: On the Apporto toolbar click the cloud with a downward arrow. Select the file you want to download, and click Download.

Q: How do I upload files to Apporto?

A: On the Apporto toolbar click the cloud with an upward arrow. Select the file you want to upload and click Open. The file will be placed on your desktop.

Q: Can I use copy and paste?

A: Absolutely! You can copy and paste

  • From your Windows/Apple computer to Apporto
  • From Apporto to your Windows/Apple computer.
  • Within Apporto

Apple Computers: When pasting into Apporto you usually need to use CTRL+V instead of CMD+V to paste. For more information read Apporto's Copying and Pasting to a Remote Computer guide.

Q: Why isn't copy and paste working?

A: Make sure you're using the correct keybinds, see Can I use copy and paste? You may need to enable the clipboard in your browser permissions.

Chrome
  1. Click the 3 dots in the top right corner, and choose Settings.
  2. Click Privacy and security from the list on the left, choose Site settings, expand Additional Permissions, and select Clipboard.
  3. Remove apporto.com from the Not allowed to see your clipboard list.
Edge
  1. Click the 3 dots in the top right corner, and choose Settings.
  2. Click Cookies and site permissions from the list on the left, and scroll down to Clipboard.
  3. Find apporto.com in the Block list and click the 3 dots to delete apporto.com from the list.

Q: How do I print a file?

A: From your program open the print menu (commonly File > Print), and choose the printer called Apporto Printer (redirected). Now the print menu for your computer will popup and you can choose which printer you'd like to print to.

Q: Can I use multiple screens?

A: You can have up to 3 screens when using Apporto. On the Apporto toolbar click the overlapped computer monitors to open an additional tab. For more information read Apporto's Using Multiple Monitors guide.

Q: How do I use my microphone in Apporto?

A: In the toolbar click the settings cog, and click Enable microphone. If the microphone still isn't working make sure it's not blocked by your browser.

Chrome
  1. Click the 3 dots in the top right corner, and choose Settings.
  2. Click Privacy and security from the list on the left, choose Site settings, and then choose Microphone.
  3. Remove apporto.com from the Not allowed to use your microphone list.
Edge
  1. Click the 3 dots in the top right corner, and choose Settings.
  2. Click Cookies and site permissions from the list on the left.
  3. Scroll down to Microphone, and delete apporto.com from the Block list.
Firefox
  1. Click the 3 bars in the top right corner, and choose Privacy & Security on the left.
  2. Scroll down to permissions, find Microphone, and choose Settings...
  3. Find apporto.com  in the list and set it to Allow, then Save Changes.

Q: What browsers are supported?

A: Any device, or browser that supports HTML5 will work with Apporto. 

Q: I can't see any programs?

A: If you launch a virtual desktop and no programs are visible please try:

  1. Close the virtual desktop.
  2. Wait 2 to 5 minutes.
  3. Refresh the Apporto App Store page.
  4. Relaunch your virtual desktop.

If you still can't see any programs after trying the steps above please fill out the Report an Issue With Apporto form.

Q: How many cloud drives can I mount using Cloud Mounter?

A: You can connect multiple drives from different platforms. For example you can link a Google Drive, and a Box Drive, but not 2 Google Drives.
