Suggested Models

These are the models UIS suggests for departments who want to buy a printer outright (rather than leasing one). Please note that all printer purchases require a UIS pre-purchase consultation.

Workgroup (for situations where a printer will be shared by multiple people):

• Black and White: HP LaserJet Enterprise M608dn
• Color: HP Color LaserJet Enterprise m455dn

Personal (for situations where a printer will be used only by a single person):

• Black and White Print Only: HP LaserJet Pro 3001dw Wireless Printer
• Color Print Only: HP Color LaserJet Pro 4201dn Printer​​​​​​​
• Black and White With Scanning: HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdn
• Color With Scanning: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301fdn

​​​​​​​Note: Personal printers are appropriate for home use, but you may need to purchase an additional USB cable in order to directly connect them to a computer rather than connecting through a network, e.g. AmazonBasics USB 2.0 Printer Cable - A-Male to B-Male Cord - 10 Feet (3 Meters).

Suggested Features for Leased MFPs

For Colleague printing, a printer must have Postscript compatibility.

For EPIC/OCHIN printing, a printer must have PCL compatibility.

Scanning to Box is not reccomended due to unreliability of all products UIS has reviewed.
