Many Pacific students, faculty and staff have elected to create a preferred email address which is different from their default PUNet ID@pacificu.edu email address. For some, the Boxer Mail web interface sends as your PUNet ID@pacificu.edu address by default. This article will show you how to set up your Pacific University Boxer Mail (Gmail) to send emails as your preferred email address.
Note: As of 7/16/21, a Boxer Mail user's preferred email address (if one exists) will be automatically set as the default send-as address for:
- All employees.
- Any new student who joins the university after 7/16/21.
- Any user who creates or changes a preferred email address after 7/16/21.
Procedure
- First log in to your Boxer Mail.
- Then click on the settings cog in the top right and then choose "see all settings".
- Click on the "Accounts" tab at the top.
- Under the section labeled "send mail as" there is an option to "add another email address" click that and it will open a new window.
- The new window will ask for an email address and will give you the option to check a box labeled "treat as an alias".
- Once you click next it will send you a verification email to make sure you own that email address.
- After it is confirmed yours, it will show up as an option to send mail as either your PUNet ID or preferred email address.
- You can then choose the "make default" option on that accounts settings page.
For non-employee accounts who set a preferred email address prior to 7/16.
- Log into myAccount
- click on your @PUNetID in the top left
- click "Email Address"
- click "Re-sync Google" button
- A dialog will appear to confirm that you understand this will change the default address in Google.
- After confirming, the backend will push your preferred email address to your sendas and make it the default.
If you don't see the "Re-sync Google" button, there is no separate preferred address (the PUNetID address IS the default) OR it has already been pushed over to Google as the default sendas address.
