How To Request Money Be Transferred From an Inaccessible Google Pay Account

A change made by Google has made Google Pay inaccessible for many or all people who have used Google Pay with their Pacific University Google accounts.  Users who have funds trapped in an inaccessible Google Pay account can ask for the funds to be transferred out as follows:

Prerequisites

You will need to be able to log on to your Pacific University Google account.  If you cannot currently log in, do a self-service password reset or call the Helpdesk (503-352-1500).

You'll want to have information readily available about an account that you want Google to transfer the funds to, either:

  • A bank account.
  • A personal (non-Education) Google Pay account.

Procedure

  1. Go to this link: https://support.google.com/googlepay/gethelp?symptom=identity_verification and use one of the contact methods (phone, chat or email) to talk to a Google rep.
  2. Tell the Google Rep that you want to transfer funds out of a Google Pay account that is no longer supported because it is a Workspace for Education account.  Give them information about the account (bank account or non-Education Google Pay account) you want the funds transferred to.
    1. If they try to tell you that your account should be accessible, you can tell them that the IT department that manages your account has worked with Google and has confirmed that there is no way for a Google Workspace for Education user to access to access their Google Pay account when that account prompts for a birthdate.
  3. Ask for a ticket or reference number for your request.
  4. Please allow two weeks for the transfer to go through.  If you have not heard back from Google in two weeks, please submit a help ticket to us and let us know the ticket or reference number for your request.
