When dialing, the phone's display should show the current time and date as well as display the numbers being dialed. If the display does not show a clock, the Exit button, found near the upper-left of the phone's face, can typically be used to exit any menus the phone may be in and return to the ready-to-dial state.
Speakerphone: Press Speaker button to enable/disable speakerphone.
A red light on the button will indicate when the speakerphone is active. Calls
can be switched between the handset and speakerphone either by pressing the
Speaker button before hanging up the handset or lifting the handset before
pressing the Speaker button.
Microphone: Press Mic button to enable/disable the speakerphone
microphone. A red light on the button will indiciate when the microphone is active.
Phones may also display MIC ON or MIC OFF when enabled or disabled, respectively.
The microphone should be enabled to use the speakerphone but does not affect calls made
with the handset. Disable the microphone with Mic to mute yourself on a call
using speakerphone.
Hold: Press Hold button to place an active call on hold. A green flashing
light will indicate a call on hold for the line that activated the hold. To take a call
off hold, take the phone off-hook and press the green flashing line Key.
Redial: Press Redial button to cycle through the last five calls made from
that phone. Press the asterisk (*) key to place a call to the selected number. If phone
is on-hook when pressing Redial, speakerphone will automatically enable. To cancel,
simply hang up.
Call History: A historical list of incoming, missed or received, calls is available for your
office phone. The call history list will store the 20 latest incoming call records.
Accessing the list is different depending on the phone model you have.
Call Transfer: During a call, press Transfer followed by the number you wish
to forward the caller to using standard dialing rules. You may hang up once the number is dialed.
- If you stay on the line, you may speak to the third party before iniating the transfer.
This is helpful if you wish to inform the individual of who is being transferred or why. Hang
up to initiate the transfer.
- While speaking to the third party, before initiating the transfer, you may press the
Transfer key to switch between calling and called parties. Hang up at any point to
connect the other two parties together in a 2-way call.
Three-Way Conference: After connecting to a third party during a call transfer
(see above), announce you will be initiating a three-way conference call and press the
CONF key (Note: This key will appear as a
soft key
on the two-screen NEC phones). If any party hangs up during a three-way conference
call, the remaining two parties will be left in a standard 2-way call.
Up/Down Directional Buttons:
- When phone is on-hook, these buttons adjust the phone display's contrast level.
- When phone is off-hook, these buttons adjust the speaker/call volume.
- When phone is ringing, these buttons adjust the phone's ring volumne.
Please note: Call forwarding must be removed before a new forwarding destination
can be added. If forwarding is already set when trying to set a new destination, a
different confirmation tone will be heard and the phone will display REST. The same is
true if trying to remove call forwarding when no forwarding is set.
To Set Forwarding for All Calls:
- Take phone off-hook
- Dial
*5
followed by the number to forward to
- Note: Standard dialing rules apply. Use 3000 for voicemail
- Receive confirmation tone and message on phone display, if applicable
- Hang up
To Remove: Take phone off-hook and dial #5
To Set Forwarding if Busy/No Answer:
- Take phone off-hook
- Dial
*6
followed by the number to forward to
- Note: Standard dialing rules apply. Use 3000 for voicemail
- Receive confirmation tone and message on phone display, if applicable
- Hang up
To Remove: Take phone off-hook and dial #6
To Program One-Touch Speed Dial Keys:
- Press Feature key - A red light will indicate activation
- Press speed dial key to program
- Enter desired destination number
- Note: Standard dialing rules apply
- Press Feature key again
- Receive SPEED SET confirmation message on phone display, if applicable
If your phone uses digital labels for speed dial keys
(i.e. the button label reads SPD by default), you can
edit the label.
