Antivirus Software Is Highly Recommended
The Technology Helpdesk has seen malware infections on both Macs and PCs create significant problems for students. We recommend, based on our experience, that all computers running Windows or MacOS have antivirus software installed on them.
Availability
Pacific University does not provide antivirus software for student devices. There are many free and for-purchase options available such as offerings from Kaspersky, Malwarebytes, AVG Antivirus, Avast, BitDefender and Sophos. For-purchase antivirus programs tend to rate higher than free, but even free programs are better than not using any third party antivirus software. Avast and AVG both have free versions of their software.
