December 2022 Employee Technology Newsletter

Wow! Hopefully by the time you read this finals are finished and the hard work is over! This month is a shorter newsletter, yet we will have lots of great updates next month. Have an amazing winter break! The UIS team is just a phone, email, or Zoom connection away. (Yet we will be closed from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2, reopening Jan. 3, 2023.) See you next year!

Warm Regards and go Boxers!

Helpdesk Offices Closed for Holiday Break

During our holiday closure (12/22/22—1/2/23), you can still submit help requests via the Services Portal and we will get back to you as soon as we are able to. To report a major system outage affecting multiple users, please contact Campus Public Safety at x 2230.

Did You Get a New Phone? Don't Forget Duo

Did you get a new phone over the holidays? Don’t forget to sign up for Duo on your new phone before you lose access to your old phone so that you can continue to accept authentication pushes. Methods that transfer your files and settings to a new phone will not always transfer Duo correctly. See our knowledgebase article for more information.

Housing and Dining Services Takes Online Requests

the office of Housing and Dining Services is now taking help requests via the Services Portal, joining University Advancement and University Information Services. More university departments are coming soon.

Beware of Scammers Bearing Gifts

Gift card scams can be popular during the holidays. Pacific employees will never email you to ask you to purchase gift cards for payments of goods without prior conversation. Please double check the email address of any emails asking you to do anything you don't normally do, and submit a help request if you need help determining if an email is legitimate.
