Procedure

Connecting to Boxer Legacy:

The “Boxer Legacy” SSID is for game consoles, consumer devices, or any other wireless device that does not work with EAP-TLS authentication. As you go through the registration process in Boxer Connect (https://boxerconnect.pacificu.edu), you will pick the option for “Another Device” to register these devices. During the registration, you will need to enter the hardware MAC address of your wireless network adapter. After registering the MAC address, you will see a prompt with the SSID to connect to (Boxer Legacy) and the password for the network.

For the XBox One, use the following steps:

1) Get the MAC Address of the console:

  • To find the MAC address of your XBox One, press the Xbox button on the controller to open the guide. From there, select "System" and then step through the "Settings" and "General" menus until you reach "Network Settings"
  • Select “Advanced Settings” and look at the list at the right of the screen for "Wireless MAC" for the console's wireless MAC. Make a note of this for the next step.

2) Register the MAC Address

  • From a computer, go to Boxer Connect (https://boxerconnect.pacificu.edu) Log in with your PUNetID
  • Select “Another Device”
  • Enter the MAC Address of the XBox when Prompted
  • Upon registration, you will be given the SSID and password for the wireless network to use to get the XBox online.

3) Connect the XBox One to Boxer Legacy

  • Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the guide. From there, select "System" and then step through the "Settings" and "General" menus until you reach "Network Settings"
  • Select "Set up wireless network" and follow the prompts.
  • Select Boxer Legacy under the list of available WiFi networks.
  • Enter the password provided in earlier step when you registered the MAC address.
  • You should get a message that the XBox is now connected to the Internet.

For the XBox 360, use the following steps:

1) Get the MAC Address of the console:

  • To find the MAC address of your XBox, you’ll need to be connected to a network before the option is available.
  • To start, go to “My XBox” in the XBox dashboard and select “System Settings”
  • Go to “Network Settings” and then “Configure Network”
  • The XBox should scan for available wireless networks. Join “BoxerConnect” which is an open SSID for getting online.
  • Once connected to BoxerConnect, use the “Configure Network” option to display the network settings.
  • Under the “Additional Settings” tab, select “Alternate MAC Address” which will display the XBox’s MAC address. Make a note of this for the next step.

2) Register the MAC Address

  • From a computer (IE on the XBox is not supported), go to Boxer Connect (https://boxerconnect.pacificu.edu) Log in with your PUNetID
  • Select “Another Device”
  • Enter the MAC Address of the XBox when Prompted
  • Upon registration, you will be given the SSID and password for the wireless network to use to get the XBox online.

3) Connect the XBox 360 to BoxerLegacy

  • Go to “My XBox” in the XBox dashboard and select “System Settings”
  • Go to “Network Settings” and then “Configure Network”
  • The XBox should scan for available wireless networks. Join “Boxer Legacy” and use the password provided in the Instructions.

For the Sony PlayStation 4, use the following steps:

1) Get the MAC Address of the console:

  • Go the main home screen on the PS4.
  • Navigate to the icons at the top of the screen and scroll over to the right to select the one for "Settings"
  • From the Settings menu, select "System"
  • Under System, select "System Information"
  • The wireless MAC will be listed under "MAC Address (Wi-Fi)"
  • Make a note of this for the next step.

2) Register the MAC Address

  • From a computer, go to Boxer Connect (https://boxerconnect.pacificu.edu)
  • Log in with your PUNetID and start the registration process
  • Select “Another Device” when given the option
  • Enter the MAC Address of the PS4 when Prompted
  • Upon registration, you will be given the SSID (Boxer Legacy) and password for the wireless network to use to get the PS4 online.

3) Connect the PS4 to Boxer Legacy

  • Go the main home screen on the PS4.
  • Navigate to the icons at the top of the screen and scroll over to the right to select the one for "Settings"
  • From the Settings menu, select "Network"
  • In the Network menu, make sure the option to "Connect to the Internet" is checked
  • Select "Set Up Internet Connection"
  • Pick the option to "Use Wi-Fi" for the connection
  • Pick "Easy" for set up options
  • Select Boxer Legacy from the list of available networks.
  • Use the password provided when you registered the MAC address.
  • You should get a message that Internet settings have been updated.
  • Select the option to Test Internet connection to verify connectivity.
  • If the test was successful, you are now connected to wireless.

or the Sony PlayStation 3, use the following steps:

1) Get the MAC Address of the PS3:

  • Go to Settings -> Network Settings in the PS3 menu. Select “Settings and Connection Status List”
  • Scroll down until you find “MAC Address”
  • Make a note of this for the next step.

2) Register the MAC Address

  • From a computer, go to Boxer Connect (https://boxerconnect.pacificu.edu)
  • Log in with your PUNetID and start the registration process
  • Select “Another Device” when given the option
  • Enter the MAC Address of the PS3 when Prompted
  • Upon registration, you will be given the SSID (Boxer Legacy) and password for the wireless network to use to get the PS3 online.

3) Connect the PS3 to Boxer Legacy

  • Go to Settings -> Network Settings
  • Select “Internet Connection Settings”
  • Enter “OK” for “Adjust settings for connection to Internet.”

Try these steps first:

  • Select “Internet Connection Settings”
  • Enter “OK” for “Adjust settings for connection to Internet.” Select “Easy”
  • Select “Wireless”
  • Select “Scan”
  • Select “BoxerLegacy” from discovered SSID list
  • Confirm SSID Name
  • Enter WPA Key
  • Press the x button to save settings.

If you get a message that the AP is not detected:

  • Select “Internet Connection Settings”
  • Enter “OK” for “Adjust settings for connection to Internet.” Select “Custom”
  • Select “Wireless”
  • Select “Enter Manually”
  • Enter “BoxerLegacy” for SSID
  • Use “WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK” for WLAN Security Setting Enter WPA Key
  • Select “Automatic” for IP Address Setting
  • Select “So Not Set” for DHCP host name
  • Select “Automatic” for DNS Setting
  • Select “Automatic” for MTU
  • Select “Do Not Use” for Proxy Server
  • Select “Disable” for UPnP
  • Press the x button to save settings.
  • Once save is completed, skip Test Connection and reboot PS3.

For the Nintendo Switch, use the following steps:

1) Get the MAC Address of the console:

  • Go the main home menu on the Switch.
  • Select "System Settings"
  • Select "Internet" from the settings menu.
  • The MAC address will be listed under "System MAC Address" on the right side of the screen
  • Make a note of this for the next step.

2) Register the MAC Address

  • From a computer, go to Boxer Connect (https://boxerconnect.pacificu.edu)
  • Log in with your PUNetID and start the registration process
  • Select “Another Device” when given the option
  • Enter the MAC Address of the Switch when Prompted
  • Upon registration, you will be given the SSID (Boxer Legacy) and password for the wireless network to use to get the Switch online.

3) Connect the Switch to Boxer Legacy

  • Go the main home menu on the Switch.
  • Select "System Settings"
  • Select "Internet" from the settings menu.
  • Select "Internet Settings" on the right side of the screen
  • Select Boxer Legacy from the list of available networks.
  • Use the password provided when you registered the MAC address.
  • The Switch will check for connectivity. If the test was successful, you are now connected to wireless.
