How To Connect a Game Console to Ethernet in a Residence Hall

Background

Procedure

There are two ways to connect a game console to the internet via Ethernet in your Residence Hall. First, if your game console has a built-in web browser, simply connect and follow the instructions in the NetReg wizard. If you game console doesn’t have a web browser, follow the steps below to find the MAC address of your game console, then log on to myAccount, go to e-mail help@pacificu.edu. User this form to et us know the follow information: Ethernet Registration Form

  • Your PUNet ID.
  • The MAC address of the game console.
  • The type of game console (e.g. Wii).

You will receive an email back when your console has been registered and at that time you can connect to the Internet.

Academic use of the internet always takes a priority over recreational use (e.g. gaming). At the Technology Information Center we will help you with your recreational technology use, but only to the point that it does not interfere with our support of academic technology use.

XBox One

  1. Go to the "Settings" page
  2. Choose "Network"
  3. Choose "Advanced Settings"
  4. Find the MAC address next to MAC on the right side of the screen.

Playstation 4

  1. Go to "Settings" in the PS4 menu.
  2. Go to "Network"
  3. Go to "View Connection Status"
  4. Find the MAC Address next to "MAC Address"

XBOX 360

  1. Go to the System area of the XBOX Dashboard and select Network Settings.
  2. Select Edit Settings.
  3. From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.
  4. At the bottom of this screen you’ll see a heading called Wired MAC Address. This is your MAC address.

PS3

  1. Navigate to the Settings icon (located on the far left).
  2. Press the X button.
  3. Navigate up/down until you see the System Settings icon. Press the X button.
  4. Scroll up/down until you see System Information. Press the X button. Your MAC address will be displayed.

Wii and Wii U

A USB LAN Adapter is necessary to connect a Wii or Wii U to the internet at Pacific University. If you have one, please consult the documentation for the adapter to determine how to find the Ethernet MAC address.
