This Article is to show how to manually change a .ica file to be opened by Citrix Workspace App. These .ica files are used by Epic and Citrix to open the EHR (Electronic Health Records) system.
Prerequisites
Make sure you have the most up to date version of Citrix Workspace App installed.
Procedure
The first thing you want to do is try and open the .ica file and see if the file type just needs to pick the correct application from the app list. If Citrix Connection Manager is not in the list you will need to manually change what program opens these file types.
To manually change the file type first you will want to right click on the downloaded file and go to properties.
Once in properties you will want to choose the change button at the top that asks what program you want to open these types of files with.
Once you click on change you will be given a browsing menu to find the application you want to open with. You will want to navigate to the folder in this location C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\ICA Client and the program you will want to choose is wfcrun32.
Once this is selected try to download and run another .ica file to make sure that it opens correctly.
